Last Minute Thanksgiving Outfit Inspiration
Thanksgiving is tomorrow! Whether you’re having a small get-together with your close quarantine buddies or you’re rocking a solo holiday, here are some outfit ideas to help make the holiday still feel special this year, no matter how you’re spending it. You can likely put these outfits together with pieces you already have in your closet, but in case there’s something you don’t own, I included some top picks to choose from.
outfit one: Classic Elegance
With not much going on this year, I think the holidays are a good excuse to dress up. If you think the same, this look is right for you.
Start with a high-wasted pair of loose-fitted dress pants. I have a pair from H&M that I love wearing when I want to dress up, but still want comfort. This pair from Express can help you achieve a similar look.
Next, you’ll want a simple cami blouse, like this drapey one from Loft. I prefer neutral colors—white, black, tan, or gray. But if you' want to add a bit more color or even a pattern into your outfit, your blouse is a good place to add that in.
Top your look with an oversized, long black cardigan. You likely have a black cardigan in your wardrobe, so this is a simple finishing look for this outfit. This one from Topshop (sold at Nordstrom) looks like a cozy dream.
Let’s dig into accessories! If you want to go all out, a pair of black suede pumps are perfect, similar to this pair from Macy's. If heels are not your shoe of choice, you can also opt for a comfier pair of flats—again, I’d recommend black.
Finish this look with a pair of gold drop earrings, like this classic pair from Nordstrom. I promise they’ll add a final touch of elegance to this already classy look.
Outfit two: DRESSY CASUAL
Want to dress up, but still want maximum comfort? This look is right for you!
You can’t go wrong with a turtleneck sweater dress. If you don’t have one in your closet, this is a staple needed for any wardrobe. This one from Express is fully stocked and the perfect shade of oatmeal!
If you want to incorporate a touch of color into this outfit, layer on a festive scarf. This one from J.Crew is on major sale right now, and it will also come in handy for Christmas outfits, too.
Hopefully you have a pair of leather booties already in your closet. But if you’re in the market for a new pair, I can’t recommend my Steve Madden ones enough. I have them in black, but I love the cognac color too, and they would look especially charming with this outfit.
I personally love the topknot headband trend — I think they’re a fun way to tie together an outfit. I have a few laying around my apartment, but after I found this gold shimmer one from J.Crew, I may need to add a new one to my collection.
Last but not least, earrings. Because you have two other accessories with this outfit, I recommend keeping it simple and finishing with a pair of gold studs. This pair comes in a set of three with two other staple pairs I’d recommend adding to your wardrobe if you don’t have them already.
outfit three: cozy chic
If you want to change out of your pajamas, but comfort is your primary objective, this outfit is right for you. (And, no shame if you do choose to stay in your pjs all day—there are no rules this year).
Let’s start the black high-wasted jeans—I know, JEANS. But truly, what better excuse to wear them this year than on a holiday? Plus, we all own them. Madewell is having a 30%-off sale on most full priced items, including these skinny button-front black jeans.
Pair your jeans with an oversized, comfortable sweater. I’m really into balloon-sleeves this year, and I think this one from Express is a great steal.
For shoes, I recommend a stylish black flat. I love a good pointed toe, like this mega-discounted pair from Banana Republic Factory, but any flat will do—as long as they’re comfy—blisters are not worth it this year.
For an extra touch, pair this outfit with a cozy scarf. I like this maroon one, but whatever you have in your wardrobe will work with this already-neutral outfit.
Finally, gold huggie hoop earrings are a great accessory to top off this look. This pair from Kate Spade are on major sale and even have an extra pretty diamond sparkle.
And that’s it! Which of these outfit inspirations is your favorite? Tell me about your Thanksgiving plans in the comments!
