Products I've Been Living In

Welp, it’s in the single digits people, which means I’m not leaving my apartment for the foreseeable future. So, while I’m barricading at home, I figured I’d round up some items that I recently can’t seem to live without.

When I do leave the house, I'm bundled up in so many layers, it often doesn’t feel like it matters what I’m wearing underneath my oversized puffer coat. However, even though hardly anyone is observing my “fashion sense” lately, I’ve really tried to invest in pieces this season that maximize both function and comfort. And I think that’s the key reason I find myself pulling for these pieces again and again.

The first item I want to highlight are my new FAVORITE Chelsea boots. If you thought snow boots couldn’t be cute, think again. These Sam Edelman leather waterproof boots have became a staple in my wardrobe this season. They pair really well with a skinny or tapered jean, but also can be dressed down with leggings if that’s your vibe (it’s often my vibe). As someone on the more petite side, I was worried these boots would be too bulky. But I LOVE them. If you’ve been thinking of trying a chunkier boot that you can wear in all cold weather types, these are them. As for sizing, knowing I was going to be primarily wearing these on cold snowy days, I went up a half a size so I could wear thicker socks. If you’re planning to regular socks, stick with your normal size.

Next up, let’s dig into sweaters. Each year, I feel like I scour the internet for new sweaters, and I think I finally have a suite of favorites that I will keep into next year as well. The first two are from J.Crew, which is my normal go-to spot for sweater shopping. I was interested in adding a pure white turtleneck to my wardrobe and this one has been a winner. I wore it twice last week and I’m pretty sure my coworkers noticed on Zoom, but honestly no shame, because it makes me feel put together even though I put minimal effort into the rest of my outfit. The other is a soft yarn material, which is super soft and cozy. The turtleneck on this one is a bit tighter than I expected, but I like it for a super cold day when all I want to do is bundle up.

The other turtlenecks I’ve been living in are these ribbed fitted ones from LOFT. I own them in white and black, and they’re great for layering under other sweaters or cardigans, or just on their own for a clean, simple look. I think some colors are nearly sold out, but I found this similar option from Abercrombie. If you don’t have this fit in your closet, I highly recommend.

I purchased this sweater from Express right before the holidays, and I’m so glad I did. It’s a “cropped” style, which actually isn’t very short, but cropped enough that it doesn’t require any French tucking. During December, I dressed this sweater up by wearing it over slip dresses and with silk patterned skirts, which is a great option given the length. It’s also super cute paired with jeans or leggings though. It’s currently FULLY restocked in all sizes, and it comes in a new bright white color that I’m considering purchasing.

Lastly, I took a trip to Bloomingdale’s and fell in love with this cashmere sweater, which I then had to purchase. I have the darker gray color, which I like much better than the heather gray option pictured. It’s a great length and has some subtle rib detailing. If you’re looking for an investment piece, I’d recommend this one.

Now, although I’ve mentioned jeans in this post, let’s be honest, I’m mainly living in leggings day to day. My favorite are my Lulu Lemon Align leggings. They are so soft and I just purchased another black pair. I have the 28’’ length, which fit full length on me. I’m 5 ft. for reference.

The other items in this round up are a bit of a hodgepodge, including these silk scrunchies which I now use exclusively instead of hair elastics and some of my favorite dainty Gorjana rings and gold huggie hoop earrings. This scarf is SO soft and it’s been my go-to outdoor accessory when I leave the house. During those days where I’m running out for errands, I always grab this Everlane baseball cap. And if there’s not snow on the ground and I’m feeling like I want to put a little extra effort into my look, I’ll pull out these white sneakers. Although they’re sneakers, I swear they elevate simple outfits and, honestly, make me feel like I “tried”.

Happy shopping!
